Flowers 123
Reads like a course in college, right? Not quite but interesting just the same.
Panaderos has asked me to do the 123 Book Tag, a fairly simple exercise with the following rules:
- Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
- Open the book to page 123.
- Find the fifth sentence.
- Post the next three sentences.
- Tag five people.
The book I'm reading at the moment is The Digital Photography Book 2 by Scott Kelby. It's interesting because the subject has always fascinated me. I got this from Amazon using a gift certificate I won answering a CNN survey. Masha, who was in the US recently, brought it home for me. The book is an easy read as it does away with technical terms and has a tip on each page for the aspiring photographer.Page 123 is part of the section on Shooting Landscapes Like a Pro and is sub-titled A Trick for Great-Looking Flower Shots. As the page only has 4 sentences, I'm printing them all verbatim.
Want a great quick trick for some interesting-looking flower shots? Get down low, and shoot the flowers so they're backlit, with the sun behind them. The sunlight shining through the translucent petals creates a beautiful effect, and this is a popular trick employed by serious flower shooters that works every time. Don't forget to get down low (so low that you're either shooting straight on or up at the flowers) to get the most from this effect.
While we're on the subject of photography, please visit my new blog called Captured Beat. I started it to satisfy the aspiring photographer in me and to develop my skill. While you're there, check out my contribution to Weekend Snapshot; a flower shot.
I'm tagging bloggers I know who enjoy books, photography or both: Manggy, Monaco, Toni, Shai and Sexy Mom. Take the shot, guys, and thank you!

Thanks for doing the tag, Em. It's very much appreciated.
I was into photography back in my undergrad days and I spent way too much time organizing all the rolls of film I would take with my very old-tech camera. Now I keep telling myself I should brush up on my digital photography skills with some actual lessons or books ...
Nice pics Dr. Em! I'll try to incorporate the tag in my next post. Thanks for the tag!
that looks like a good book as I'm keen on learning more about photography myself. meron kaya nyan dito?
btw, it's only now that I got to visit my multiply page (after a month). thanks for the bday greeting em.
btw, thanks for the tag.
Panaderos, you're welcome.
Wysgal, I think digital photography's awesome and would encourage more people to get into it. After all, it's not as expensive as film. It's easy to delete not-so-good shots.
Manggy, thanks. I'm interested to see what you'll put.
Mon, you're welcome. By the way, check out my photoblog's sidebar for resources.
Ooohhh cool. You've got this book. And, yikes. So, I've been tagged. Will look in to doing this some time. :-)
Shai, hope you will. I saw that you have this book too after I ordered from Amazon. Now all I need is a DSLR. Ha ha.
