When Space is a Good Thing

When a man tells a woman he needs space, that is not a good thing. It means time apart and suggests that the woman is clingy. The same can be said if it's the woman who's asking for space. It suggests the beginning of the end of a relationship (more often than not) and that the man's protectiveness has become more of a bane than a boon.

But trust Toni to come out with something positive about wishing for space. She says

And so I wish for space
to exchange laughter with friends
to share meals with family
to grow, to dance, to open my arms wider
to share and spread the love

That post is my favorite among those I've read since I've been a regular reader for about a year now. I chanced upon Wifely Steps while checking out the nominees for the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards. At first, I thought that I would not enjoy her blog at all, dealing with marriage and all that, but I was wrong. Her blog is a treasure trove of information, both for the attached and the unattached.

There is one more reason why I love this post. It was Toni's entry to my first group writing project. When she entered, I was so flattered. The winner of the Home and Living category of the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards gave my blog her time. I was thrilled.

On May 24, Toni will be celebrating 5 years of blogging and marital bliss with H.
