Dunkin' Donuts
Zara's Clarence opened up his Dunkin' Donuts store this morning. The donuts were sold out in a matter of hours. I think this is because they are relatively inexpensive compared to other brands. Almost just a third of the price of a fancy one. Second, most of us have at one time or another had a Dunkin' Donuts experience. Some stores were witness to many a medical student's preparation for the boards. I'm sure the same is true for other professions. Yet for others, it is comfort food. our friend Butternut recalls bonding with her Dad over coffee.
What was interesting about watching the sales this afternoon was that those who bought donuts precisely knew what they wanted. That says a lot about the brand. Everyone has his own favorite. Mine is the sugar raised or honey dipped. The Bavarian donut was the one most requested and the fastest seller this afternoon.
I recall that it was Dunkin' Donuts which revolutionized how we see donuts in the old days. Prior to its coming to the Philippines, we were content with deep fried donuts dipped in sugar. Dunkin' Donuts allowed us to see the infinite possibilities with donuts. Toppings. Sprinkles. Fillings. Etc.

I LOVE Dunkin' Donuts. The hoity toity expensive ones are just too sweet and too melty and ephemeral. Dunkin's are sturdier, more filling, and less sweet. I pretty much like most of the flavors except the Creme ones (with the voluptuous swirl of hardened buttercream inside), and the ones with nuts and coconut. Even though Dunkin's choco-coconut munchkins are one of the few treats where I tolerate coconut. Among my favorites:
Black Raspberry/ Strawberry/ Pineapple/ Lemon/ Bavarian Filled
Apple and Spice, Boston Creme, Choco Honey-Dipped, Choco-Butternut, Butternut
Eclair, Coffee Roll
I love bavarian flavor, i even remeber dunkin donuts' sandwhiches, they were selling that when i was in high school and i liked them alot. I miss donuts!
i find their donuts really small compared to how it was before. i like their bunwich though

When I use to eat them, I loved the cruller. I've got fond memories of dunkin donuts. when they first opened in greenhills, i had a crush on this Don Bosco mestizo who worked there and my friends and i would make the trip from caloocan on the off-chance that he would be working...
