Tapa King
Yesterday, I was excited to try a restaurant's famous tapa, imagined a good meal but left disappointed because the tapa was more sauce than meat. Even the three people I dragged with me were not pleased. Not having satisfied my craving for tapa, I decided to try Tapa King today.
The tapa in Tapa King is available in many varieties - natural, sweet and spicy, spicy, bacon and are named after royalty. I opted for the bestseller Tapa King (PHP 125). The tapa was served, like most Filipino breakfasts, with garlic rice, egg done sunny side up and atsara. The tapa was tender, without sauce but not at all dry.
Some people hesitate to eat at Tapa King because of the misconception that it only serves tapa. Wrong! Tapa King is more than just about tapa. They serve chicken, fish, merienda fare and dessert too!
While my craving was satisfied and Tapa King is much better than yesterday's tapa, I still prefer two other restaurants' versions.

Em, have u tried their champorado? It's soo good! :)
I like Rufo's tapa more. :)
In the past, whenever my sister and I didn't feel like cooking, we would have Tapa King delivered to our place. I usually order Tapa Prince, the sweet variety of tapa.
Used to make this my staple food during duty days in med school. I still crave for their danggit, but oh well, depends on which branch makes it.
Princess_Dyanie, no, I haven't but will do. Champorado would fit in my merienda diet. I didn't like Rufo's tapa at all but appreciated the steak (which was good value for money) and the embutido.
D@phn3 L@ur@, will try that next time. Or should it be the queen first? Ha ha. To preserve hierarchy, perhaps?
Bone MD, that's right, danggit is as good as who prepares it.
Tapsilog and Longsilogs are very big breakfast weaknesses for me. Whenever I'm there, I go to Tapa King for my tapsilog cravings and to Good Ah for my longsilog. I love both places. :)
How are you, Em? I hope things have been well with you. Please take care always.
I like Tapa Queen or Tapa Prince! :D
